MARCELO SANTOS AND THE ASSOCIATION BARRA PULMÃO

In the world of Capoeira, Marcelo Santos is known as “Contra Mestre Pulmão”.
He is a brown cord student of Mestre Peixinho and has been practicing Capoeira for more than 18 years.

Since 1984 Contra Mestre Pulmão has mainly been working in the Rio de Janeiro districts named Barra da Tijuca, Recreio dos Bandeirantes and São Conrado. Being active in areas with a wealthy population, he started teaching in the areas’ most exclusive private schools as there are Anglo-Americano, Faria Brito, Carolina Patricio and Bahiense. In 1997 the ward of Riviera del Fiori, initiated the teamwork with the Association Barra-Pulmão which was frequented by about 50 active students per month.

Pulmão has been traveling around the world to give Capoeira workshops in France, Germany, Denmark, Serbia, Italy, Scotland, England and last but not least the United States of America. In October 2006 he returned to Europe to give a range of presentations, lectures, classes and trainings.

Today the Association Barra-Pulmão counts over 500 active students, besides this Pulmão is also giving classes as a private trainer.
